FROM THE DESK OF DAN FORSTER - PRESIDENT
Subject: Open Letter on IFD Green Policy
As many inFORM Decisions clients already know, our company has been researching a Green Policy for some time. We've learned a lot from our research and hope to share some of our findings on this Green Page on our Web site.
We are adopting this message throughout our organization with heart and soul. We're now holding discussions with the IFD professional team to determine how to execute our commitment to preserving our environment. It's a very enlightening process.
inFORM Decisions is investigating all conservation organizations in the US that have trees as one of their primary focuses. We plan to join and support several conservation organizations concerned with protection of our forests and possibly with wildlife and climate change.
Our company is committed to our IFD Green Policy. As a company, we are thinking about this vital issue and beginning to make the simple changes that contribute to protecting our fragile planet for the enjoyment of our children and grandchildren.
Some changes to which I'm personally committed:
- Personally and professionally, I will no longer purchase plastic throw-away water bottles. This is decimating our landfills needlessly. We are switching back to the office water cooler.
- We will recycle and attempt to do more business with other vendors that have similar re-use policies in mind whenever possible. We will be purchasing supplies that are recycled as well.
- When each of us goes to a tradeshow or talks to the infrastructure of our industry, I think it's important that they see we personally and professionally have adopted this philosophy and take it seriously.
At IFD, we understand that we need to continue developing compelling business reasons for organizations to adopt our document automation products. The side benefit of paperless companies saving trees is good...we just won't be using that fact to sell our products.
We will be using this Green Page to provide useful information and report on the progress of our company and others to make a positive contribution to the protection of the environment and the protection of our forest resources.
Dan Forster
President
GREEN POLICY FOR inFORM DECISIONS
The management and employees at IFD are committed to making a contribution to the betterment of our environment. To this end, the company has created this Green Policy.
The company and its employees are committed to the following:
1. Internal Actions
Identify and implement changes to operating practices designed to minimize our impact on the destruction of trees and other harmful effects on the environment.
2. Support for Clean Energy
Support the House bill HR 3221-New Direction for Energy Independence, National Security, and Consumer Protection Act. This bill and a similar bill in the Senate represent a major step forward for clean energy and our efforts to stop pollution. The renewable standard included in the House's energy bill requires that 15 percent of our electricity come from clean and renewable sources by 2020. The amendment also allows for a smaller percentage of this requirement to come from efficiency improvements which IFD will strive to implement within its organization.
3. Electronic Documents
Support the shift from paper documents to electronic documents. This is being done at IFD with the expansion of the company's product line of electronic document management software designed to replace paper documents with eDocuments for a wide variety of uses in the organization.
4. Promote Awareness of Energy Conservation
The company and its employees are committed to looking for ways to expand awareness of the critical need individuals and organizations to be energy-conscious. Use of the company website and other means of communication will be employed in this effort.
5. Support Leading Tree-Conservation Organizations
The company and its employees have selected the following conservation organizations for support. The goals of these conservation organizations are in alignment with the Green Policy at inFORM Decisions.
